Most sessions are free, but must be booked in advance.
If you would like to conduct a self-guided visit please contact us to make a booking and for advice on your visit.
We welcome visits from children of all ages and abilities, including those with special educational needs. Please ring us and we can discuss how we can tailor sessions to meet the needs of your group.
Where to meet
Please bring your group to the Painted Hall where a member of the Education team will be there to meet you.

Monday to Friday 10am – 4pm
Accompanying adults
All school groups visiting the site must be supervised at all times, including lunchtimes. We require the following adult to pupil ratios:
For Key Stage 1 visits a minimum ratio of 1 adult per 6 pupils
For Key Stage 2 visits a minimum ratio of 1 adult per 8 pupils
For Key Stage 3 and 4 visits a minimum ratio of 1 adult per 10 pupils.
Adults accompanying pupils are responsible for the behaviour of the group at all times.
Risk assessment
We carry out risk assessments on all our activities. If you would like help with your risk assessment and planning your visit please contact us. We are happy to arrange pre-visits to the site.
Lunch facilities
Lunch can be eaten in one of our designated indoor areas or in our extensive and safe grounds. Please let us know if you would like to eat lunch at the site.
Physical Access
There are ramps to facilitate access to parts of the Painted Hall and Chapel. Toilets and lunchroom facilities are located within easy access on the ground floor.
Shop
As the Visitor Centre (Pepys Building) is closed for redevelopment, there will be no shop or toilet facilities available in the Centre until early 2010.
