Save 'Mince Pounds' at Greenwich this Christmas

Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site

3 November 2006

Mince Pounds are the new currency for Christmas, launched by the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site.

On Friday December 1st London’s Christmas Village, Greenwich, is launching its new currency the ‘Mince Pound’. All stalls at Greenwich Market and shops in Greenwich displaying the Mince Pound will be handing out one Mince Pound to everyone who spends £10 or more. It can be used at its full £1 value to reduce the cost of tickets to the Pantomime at Greenwich Theatre or the Ice Rink at the Old Royal Naval College – see details below.

From December 4 to January 6 the classic pantomime Sleeping Beauty comes to Greenwich Theatre. Telling the tale of a young princess cursed to sleep for a hundred years until a valiant prince wakes her up with a kiss, and featuring one of London’s funniest pantomime dames, the show promises to cram one hundred years of magic into one glittering show. Do your Christmas shopping in Greenwich, collect your Mince Pounds and receive a maximum £5 discount on the entry price for any performance. (Discount available December 4-8 and December 11-15.)

Tickets to the Pantomime available: Greenwich Theatre, Crooms Hill, Greenwich SE10 8ES Box Office 020 8858 7755 www.greenwichtheatre.org.uk

Now in its 3rd year, come ice skating at London’s most beautiful ice rink, between the colonnades of the Old Royal Naval College and use your ‘Mince Pounds’ to reduce the cost of entry, up to £4 off the normal adult price of £9.50 and up to £2 off the normal child’s ticket price of £7. (Discount available 4-8 December, 11-15 December and 8-12 January.)

Greenwich Ice Rink is open from December 2 to January 14 2007. Tickets are available online at www.londonicerinks.com or Ticketmaster on 0870 169 0101.

Please note: The discount obtained through Mince Pounds is only available by telephone or in person at Greenwich Theatre Box Office, or in person at the Greenwich Ice Rink Box Office.
